A strip of wood 3 inches long by i inch square is best for this puzzle because with a thick block of wood the colored pegs are not as confusing as they are with a thin piece of wood. Color the pegs so that one half of peg is black, the other half red. Then place two pegs into the outer holes so that the red ends are out of the board; place the third peg into center hole so that the black end is protruding. Puzzle: In three moves and only three moves-moving two pegs at a time-have either all the red or black ends protruding.
